Merry Christmas – Remembering Loved Ones

CHristmas image for blogSeasons Greeting Everyone!

During the holidays since my Dad passed, of course it hasn’t been the same & we always think of him, but this year I don’t feel sad about it really. I feel so grateful to have such wonderful memories of 32 years of Christmases with him, exchanging gifts, watching The Sound of Music (his & my favorite musical) & enjoying a great meal & fellowship. It is a breaking point for me to be able to remember him this time of year without crying or being full of melancholy. I’m grateful that my Dad knew Christ as his Lord & Savior & is in a much better place where he will experience no sorrow or pain…etc. I will see him again & that brings my family so much comfort. This year I’ve learned to remember him fondly but not to let it overshadow my time with the living. I still have my mother, brother, sister, brother-in-law & my nephew, as well as so much extended family. I am not alone & I am loved. God has been very good to us always & life is great. My prayers go out to anyone who is dealing with the “holiday pain” of losing a loved one, in hopes that you too, will remember them & also give the living your all. God bless you all & Merry Christmas!

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

Be Blessed – Until next time,

Merry Christmas!!!!

merry christmasMerry Christmas everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very, Merry Christmas! I hope that you all have enjoyed this holiday season with your family & friends as I have. I also want us all to take a moment to pray for the families who lost their beloved children & family members in the recent, tragic school shooting in Connecticut. My heart goes out to those families & I pray for healing for them. No parent should have to bury their child. With that, let us be thankful for our families & each moment we share with them! I know that I do! God bless all of you & have a wonderful, blessed Christmas & a very prosperous New Year! As Christians around the world celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, I wanted to share with you all this poem that I had to memorize when I was 11 or 12 years old in church. It’s author is unknown to this day:

“Twas’ the Night Before Jesus”

‘Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said “it’s not here” my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There’s only one life and when comes the last call
We’ll find that the Bible was true after all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
